Founder & President,
Restoration Foundation
Dr John D. Garr is the founder and president of Restoration Foundation. His teaching ministry is unique in that it combines excellent scholarship with intense spirituality and personal integrity. An academician with a pastor's heart, he is able to contextualize biblical truths in terms that disciples of Jesus can understand and live out. His teaching challenges believers to a faith that manifests a biblically-sound, Christocentric lifestyle grounded in the Hebraic heritage of Jesus and the Apostles.

Dr. Garr's credentials include a Bachelors Degree in Theology (summa cum laude), a Masters Degree in Theology (summa cum laude), a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Church Administration, and a Doctor of Theology degree from Evangelical Theological Seminary, where he now serves as Professor of Biblical and Judaic Studies. A firm believer in continuing education, he is currently a candidate for a doctor of theology degree in Christian-Jewish Studies.

For over thirty years, one of the major facets of Dr John Garr's own intellectual and spiritual life has been an analysis of the Hebraic heritage of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Having studied and written extensively concerning various aspects of the historical roots of Hebraic-Christianity, the ministry of Restoration Foundation is to promote the restoration of the Christian church to its Hebraic heritage by researching the historical and theological understanding of the Hebrew foundations of the gospel of Jesus Christ, developing the concept and its practical applications, and encouraging its implementation in the church.

Upon This Rock: Restoring Biblical Foundations for Discipleship
Dr John Garr

In order to understand true discipleship, we must first have a clear understanding of the ecclesiology of community, the context in which Jesus and the apostles ministered and made disciples. We must return this important biblical concept to the matrix from which it emerged, the first century Jewish community where the phrase, “Go and make many disciples” was an oft-repeated rabbinic injunction. Only when we interpret the Scriptures in the context of the language, people, and land from which they came will we find an accurate understanding of eternal truth.

Feed My Sheep: Restoring a Biblically Hebraic Ministry
Dr John Garr

When Jesus instructed Peter, “Feed my sheep,” he was reiterating a divine injunction that has always been given to leaders of the believing community. We must understand what it means to fulfill the role of shepherds in feeding the church of God which Jesus purchased with his own blood. True pastoring is actually pasturing, leading God’s sheep to pasture and equipping them with the tools and understanding with which they can feed themselves from the Word of God.

Talmidim: Hebraic Lessons in Discipleship
Dr John Garr

The greatest honor of the first century Jewish community was to be “covered in the dust of one’s rabbi.” This meant that understanding was gained by following in the teacher’s footsteps and learning from example as well as from teaching. The Hebraic key to discipleship is found in Jesus and his talmidim (disciples), with the emphasis on study as a form of worship and on dynamic modeling of God’s instructions as a manifestation of faith and faithfulness.

Blessing and Being Blessed: The Power of Berachot
Dr John Garr

From the beginning of time until the end of the age, God is ever focused on blessing his crowning creation, humankind. In order to ensure that his benediction would continually be placed upon his children, God composed “The Blessing” and then instituted a system through which it would be spoken over them throughout all generations. The amazing fact is that when God’s blessing is spoken, God actually places his name upon those who are blessed and pours into their lives irrevocable gifts and graces.

Paradigms for Networking the Global Faith Community
Dr John Garr

Networking is the prophetic watchword for the community of faith in this generation. It is time for God’s people to hear his call for unity, which is a manifestation of cohesion in the midst of diversity rather than a call for uniformity. A clear example of the way in which leaders should collaborate in facilitating the ministries of all believers is seen in the Davidic strategy which restored the ark of the covenant to a place of prominence in Israel’s worshipping experience. We can learn valuable lessons from this and other biblical examples of networking.

Walking with God: New Covenant Halachah
Dr John Garr

The ideal experience for all believers in history has been one of walking with God, living in a face-to-face relationship with the Creator and dwelling in his presence. The walk with God is one of faithfulness to his instructions accompanied by a love for mercy. When this process is understood and fully enacted, one can come into an experience that approximates that of Enoch and other patriarchs of the faith. “There is no condemnation to those who walk in the Spirit,” the experience of New Covenant Halachah.
